ok, this weekend, i've been very rajin. been cooking. here are some guidelines u can follow to make a meal for the whole day.
first up, the fried bee hoon. all u need is...
1 packet bee hoon - soaked
1 whole onion - chopped
5 tablespoon chili paste
3 packets of SriAji Fried Bee Hoon powder (fast and easy one. hehe) - obtainable at any leading supermarkets.
1 bowl of water
oil to cook
prawns/fish cake/meat/cockles
first, mix the SriAji powder into the bowl of water.
heat your wok and oil. once hot, fry the onions and chili paste till the aroma rise. den add the seafoods. fry till its cooked and add the mixed SriAji water. once the aroma of the SriAji rise, add the bee hoon. toss it a few times and cover the wok to let the bee hoon get cooked. if its too dry, add more water before u cover.
before adding the bee hoon
ready to be servedserve with spring onion/chinese parsley (daun sup/daun bawang)next will be deserts...
im sure some people might haf heard the name 'dadih' or if u see at any food stalls (esp at Geylang), colourful puddings in plastic cups. it looks like pudding but its soft. to make it, its easy. all u need is...
1 can of 405ml Carnation Full Cream Evaporated Milk
2405ml water
1 packet of dadih powder
100gm sugar
nata de coco
(recipe can also be found behind the dadih packet. but it state 3000ml water. i like my dadih soft, so i reduce the amount of water.
search for this dadih powder packet at Shing Siong supermarket. be warned! not all carry this product.first, boil the milk, water and sugar.
while waiting to boil, u can prepare the plastic cups/mangkuk. add nata de coco.
in this size plastic mangkuk (can be found at any SKP store), u can make 24 sets.once the milk has boiled, turn off the heatand stir in he dadih powder. be warned! there is another small packet label 'fruit sugar'. do not add dat first. mix the powder well for 5 minutes. add any food colouring if u want. aft 5 minutes, add the fruit powder. mix well and pour into the mangkuks. do it fast or it'll harden.
cooking the milk
i made mine strawberry flavour ohh i forgot to mention, there are a few flavours, blueberry, strawberry, mango, peach, honey dew.
letting it cool down. the nata might float up
but wen it doesnt, its ok.so yesterday, i made 2 favours and today i cook another flavour. to finish up the last 2 packets of dadih left.
ohh ya dont forget to store it in the fridge.
serve cold.last but not least, some snacks to munch on while watching teevee..
popcorns!!
all u need is
oil - to fry
raw corn seeds
1 tablespoon butter
sugar
first heat the wok. make sure its hot before u put the oil. once hot, add oil and fry the corn seeds. coat it well with oil. (make sure the oil is enuf to coat the corn seed. best gauge is 5 table spoon oil to 2 handfuls corn seed). cover the wok and let it do its popping job! wen u dont hear the popping sound anymore, its ready. for the sugar coating, reduce the oil (if there is still alot). add the butter, let it melt and he sugar. the amount depends on how much u wan it. dont leave the sugar too long or it'll burn. add diced almonds if u like and pour the popcorns. make sure u off the heat before adding the popcorn. coat the popcorn well and serve once its cooled.
